Why Partner with Subspecialist Knee Care

Your patients place their trust in the specialists you recommend. As a subspecialist, I am committed to honouring that trust through collaborative partnership, timely reporting, and advanced care. I view each referral as a partnership, returning your patients to your care with clear post-operative instructions.

Subspecialist Expertise and Credentials

My practice focuses exclusively on the knee. We are one of the few local practices equipped to manage high-risk revision surgery and complex sports trauma. This specialisation allows me to manage the most challenging cases with confidence.

Complex Primary Knee Arthroplasty

Utilising robotic-assisted total knee replacement and advanced personalised alignment surgery (kinematic and functional alignment).

Revision Knee Surgery

Expertise in complex revision surgery for aseptic loosening, instability, bone loss, and infected knee replacement. This comprehensive skill set clearly demonstrates subspecialist capability.

ACL and Sports Knee Surgery

Advanced techniques for anatomic ACL reconstruction (primary and revision), meniscal preservation, and multiligament knee reconstruction.

Dual International Training:
Commitment to the Highest Standards

My credentials signal a commitment to globally recognised standards of orthopaedic practice:

UK Fellowship Training
(FRCS [Tr & Orth])

Advanced surgical training completed at Guy's, King's College, and St Thomas' Hospitals in London. This included specific training in soft tissue knee surgery and reconstruction techniques.

Australian Fellowship Training (FRACS [Orth])

Subspecialty fellowship experience focused on knee arthroplasty, revision surgery, and advanced personalised alignment approaches.

Academic and Research Rigour

My practice is evidence-based, informed by ongoing peer-reviewed research and a Master's degree in Surgery (Distinction).

Referral Process and Criteria

We have designed the referral process to be as straightforward and efficient as possible for both you and your patients. We offer pathways tailored to your patient's clinical urgency.

Standard Referral Indications

A referral is appropriate for patients who meet professional assessment criteria and require subspecialist intervention:

Knee Osteoarthritis

Patients with imaging-confirmed moderate to severe osteoarthritis (Kellgren-Lawrence Grade 2–4) whose significant functional limitation persists after adequate conservative management (e.g., physiotherapy, injection therapy).

ACL and Meniscal Pathology

Patients with MRI-confirmed ACL rupture who seek to return to sport, symptomatic meniscal tears (including complex tears), or multiligament knee injuries requiring surgical planning.

Revision Arthroplasty

Any patient with a failed primary knee replacement, including those with aseptic loosening, instability, suspected infection, or complex periprosthetic fractures.

Complex Cases

Challenging presentations that benefit from subspecialist assessment, such as post-traumatic arthritis, malunion, or instability patterns unresponsive to conservative treatment.

Urgent Referral Pathway

For time-sensitive clinical situations, please use the dedicated direct pathway for expedited assessment:

Acute Urgent Cases

This includes acute multiligament knee injuries (sports trauma), suspected infected knee replacement (clinical or laboratory evidence), or acute periprosthetic fractures with instability.

Direct Communication

For same-week or next-available appointments, please contact me directly at 0438 183 832 or contact me.

Referral Submission Requirements

To ensure a thorough assessment, please provide the following essential information:
  • Patient demographics and current contact details.
  • Clinical history, symptom timeline, and the patient's primary consultation objectives.
  • Details of all conservative management attempts and the patient's response.
  • Current medications and any medical comorbidities.
  • Relevant imaging (X-rays, MRI) with associated reports.

Communication and Collaborative Care Commitment

I recognise that effective communication is fundamental to collaborative patient care. You are an essential partner in your patient's overall management.

Timely Comprehensive Reporting

You can rely on clear, concise, and punctual documentation:

Consultation Reports

Comprehensive reports detailing clinical findings, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, and shared decision-making outcomes are provided within 1–2 weeks of the initial patient assessment.

Post-Operative Summaries

Detailed operative reports, post-operative care instructions, expected recovery timelines, and specific guidelines for your role in ongoing management are provided immediately following surgery.

Clinical Updates

For complex cases or prolonged treatment pathways, I provide interim updates, ensuring information transparency.
Direct Professional Access
